Susan Klaus and Paula Counce founded the club in 2005. Currently, the club has 230 members that meet monthly usually on the second Monday, 6:00 to 7:45 PM at Fruitville Library, 100 Coburn St., Sarasota, Fl. Each meeting has a guest speaker. The club consists of local authors or soon to be authors ranging from self-published to bestsellers. The meetings focus on publishing, finding an editor, agent, or traditional publisher or how to self-publish a book. They are also aimed at the marketing of a novel or book; using social media, book fairs, conventions, and book signing.  The club puts out a monthly email newsletter and is a non-profit. There are no dues.

Club hosts an annual book fair on the first Saturday in Nov. at the Sarasota Farmers Market, the same date once was used for The Sarasota Reading Festival that was discontinued five years ago.
